Hello every one,
Welcome to the debut of LUMEN Weddings. I am so excited about this… Am I the only one or do majority of people get goose bump, or feel a chilly sensation when they hear a love story?
Well, for our debut, we have such a wonderful couple Blessing Kadiri and David Bako Tanko. They have such sparkle between them, and are sharing their story with us #exciting… Did I mention that they both are from opposite ends of the country? Let’s hear their story…
How we met
By Blessing and David
David: We met in March 2009 in
school. I had been seeing her in chapel then, but nothing had brought both of us
close until when we were elected as executives in fellowship. We started
talking, and later became friends. I propose to her one evening when she asked
of my intentions. I knew she did not expect or believe it at that moment. Tribal
difference was never standard in my choice of a life partner, and my parents
were supportive of our relationship from the beginning. The qualities I admire
in Blessing are - humility, openness, honesty, intelligence, hard work above
all she reverence God.
Blessing: As newly elected executives in fellowship,
we had a chat after the first executive meeting; this marked the start of
friendship. We became so close as friends, that I just had to ask him questions.
One day I summoned courage to ask his intention, so he boldly told me that he wanted
to marry me. Although, my dad had initially said none of us will marry from the
North, when my parents met David, the case changed as they grew to love him. The
qualities I admire in David include - God fearing, very principled, gentle,
handsome and he is the man of my dreams.

The Bride and Groom |
For their traditional wedding, the bride and groom did
tend more towards the Edo culture (the bride’s state of origin) in their style
of dressing. All through the event, David had on lace sewn into kaftan, with
coral beads around his neck. Blessing’s first outfit was that of a typical Edo
bride, with George wrapper tied around her chest and beads covering her
shoulders. The beads also served as a crown on her head. Later on, the bride
changed to compliment her groom’s look; tying two wrappers on what is popularly
called “Igbo blouse”. She used coral beads and gele to add more traditional
vibes to the attire.

The white wedding was beautiful – purple and maroon adorned
the bridal party. The bride wore a white strapless ball gown embellished with
maroon flowers. for the church service, she had on a bolero, to cover her
shoulders. While the groom wore a sharp suit. The smiles on the faces of the
bride and groom could not be quantified, and you could see the love between the
two.
LUMEN Weddings wish the couple a happy married life.
LUMEN Weddings would like to thank the Bride and groom for working with
us on this feature.
