Ginger and Lime |
It’s that time of the year - the Harmattan season - characterized
by dryness in the air. During the season a lot of people experience sensations
in their vocal chord / throat, which may come with difficulties in speech.
LUMEN’s got you covered this season, and for every Harmattan you would
experience; with a remedy for itchy / sore throat (it can also serve to prevent).
It is not far-fetched, as the ingredients Fresh Ginger,
Lime, and Honey can easily be accessed, and it is plentiful in supply:
Recipe:
Wash the fresh Ginger to get rid of the dirt.
Peel the skin off the ginger, rinse the ginger.
Peeled ginger |
Crush ginger using any food processor (blender, grinding stone, mortar and pistle) of your choice.
Crushed Ginger |
Pour water in the grinded ginger, and sieve to extract the juice.
Slice lime in two parts, remove the seeds and squeeze to
extract the juice.
Mix the ginger and lime juice together.
Add honey to the mixture.
There you have it.
Your drink is served |
Asides the medicinal value, I love this drink. If you
have a sweet tooth, you should be generous with the honey while making it. The drink
leaves this peppery sensation (which I love) which you would appreciate especially
with the cold weather.
In-between: As I made this drink, to be featured, I wondered
if there exists a recipe where the ginger residue would serve as an ingredient.
Any ideas…? Please share with us.
