Sunday Meditations

By Zion Emmanuel Obeten

In a world of endless competition to make it ‘big,’ people have now resorted to taking the short-cuts, not being fully aware that taking short-cuts to achieving great feats only cuts short their ambitions in the future.

In a quest for power, position and recognition, quick-fix initiatives have become the order of the day, but quick-fix does not fix the problem quick, and even if it does, makes the problems surface again even more quickly.

So, that it is INSTANT, does not always make it CONSTANT. One may instantly achieve good grades by exam malpractices, but may not be able to defend them in the long run.

People devise evil and cruel means to acquire wealth, but live in perpetual fear and uncertainties all the days of their lives. That, my friend, is total foolishness and waste of time.

No wonder, those who have dubiously found their way instantly to recognition have not been able to constantly remain there, because they lack the character and capability, which they failed or foolishly ignored to build before getting there.

I’d rather wait for so long a time and acquire strength of character, adequate skills and self-development and prepare for a CONSTANT success than rush into an INSTANT, make-it-quick-by-all-means success and be put to shame as time goes by.

Going by the former is wisdom. Go for it.
